Trying for baby HELP !!! - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Message Board

Hi all

I was just looking for some advice me and my boyfriend are trying for a baby but no luck as of yet i got diagnosed with pcos about 8 months ago and put on metfformin but the side affects are really getting to me and really hate taking them is there any other routes i can take ?

Hi I too have pcos and was diagnosed 10 years ago . when i didnot want to conceive i was on BCP.It helped me to regulate my cycle.I was never on metaformin . YOu should exercise regularly and avoid carbs to reduce weight .This can help you a lot .

My Dh and I were ttc for 2 1/2 years. I was diagnosed in Sept 07 with PCOS by a RE. I also found out I was insulin resistent and put on glucophage/metformin 1700mg daily. The side effects are terrible and I constantly had an upset tummy. Since being on glucophage I have done 3 cycle of injectables to get me to O and last week I got my BFP. My dr has taken me off the glucophage and will monitor my insulin levels carefully through out my pregnancy. So do not give up hope you can still concieve you might just need a bit of help.

Clomid helped for me. I have severe PCOS and was unable to conceive on my own. My Dr put me on clomid and I got pregnant the first try. I did miscarry that baby, but ended up with a beautiful baby boy after 3 more tries. I also was put on clomid when I decided to try for my second child. Worked wonderfully. I have two beautiful children after many years of trying and 3 miscarriages. Don't Give up!

hi there ,
i am very much in same shoes as yourself and are trying for a baby have been for about 2 years , i was diagnosed with pcos in august last year, i was put on metformin and found it stopped my periods , my doctors has now put me on zenicul to help me lose weight but i will be being referred to the hospital for further testing , as i do have periods but not showing any signs of ovulation, my advise would defo be to go back to your doctor and tell him/her you want testing as you are trying for baby and have'nt had much luck, trust me i was very scared at first cos i really want a family , but they are willing to get me the help that i need and they can put on on other things to help, if you dont feel happy taking metformin , dont have it as it is'nt always suited for everyone. hope i have been some help for you
