DD just diagnosed with PCOS, Dr wants to wait 4 months to see if she has period??? - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Message Board

She has already missed 2 periods, having dizzt spells and gained a ton of weight quickly. Should we wait? Should we go to Indocrine dr? I want to find dr that knows this issue and deals with it on a regular basis. But, I asm alsdo a worry wart. I want her fixed now.

I would make an appointment with a gynecologist as soon as possible...A regular doctor is not experienced enough to deal with issues like this and you should pursue it with a gynecologist who will be up to date with all the latest treatments and information and who will perform all of the necessary tests to determine what she individually needs.

Thank you panicPCOS for the reply. That was my thinking as I want the best care for her as quickly as possible. I would like to get her periods flowing again and find out why she is having the dizzy spells. thanks again.

I agree with PanicPCOS. Seek a specialists advice.

I have a wonderful GP but, he is clueless about PCOS. He didn't think it was the cause/contributor to my weight gain. When I explain to him what my OB/GYN has to say, on the subject, he gives me the "Oh! Really?". So, I know it's all news to him - LOL. He is just uneducated about PCOS and it's connection to IR. Thankfully, he is a great doctor in other aspects and works with my OB/GYN in any way he can.

I find it frustrating having to go to specialists all the time because there is a connection with all of my health problems and because I'm retelling my story to each one - no connection is made. No one seems to want to play connect the dots. It's like a game of telephone. Unfortunately, this is how our system is designed. It's hard to find one doctor deeply educated on many medical matters. At least, I find that to be true. I would love to prove myself wrong. So, I would seek out a specialist - one who will listen and act.
