new to pcos and scared - Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) Message Board

i was diagnosed with pcos yesterday, and i am freaking out.
i dont seem to have any of the other symptoms of pcos, except for a large amount of cysts on my ovaries. i dont have excess weight, facial hair etc.
is it common to not have all of the symptoms?

i have not had my period in 4 months. my doctor did not seem to fazed about this and pretty much told me to just 'wait it out'. what if i never get it?
how can i bring on my period? what can i take? i dont want to go on birth control as i am dying to get pregnant.

yes i dont have the cyst and i have a consitant period all i have it the facial hair and i'm heavy 290 i was just diagnosed with pcos on Wedesday i just tring to figure it out also and i have been ing to have a baby for the past 3yrs also hope this helps

nessa62873, if you don't have the cysts how can you be sure you have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome? I joined Weight Watchers and lost 30 pounds. I also took Red Clover capsules and reduced my caffeine. My Dr. had to open my cervix as it was too small & tight. I have periods maybe 3 times a year if I'm lucky. I'm almost 3 months pregnant now.

newbie777, don't freak out...it's ok and I know what you're going through. I was told that a healthy way of eating & lifestyle can help improve pcos but will not cure it. Last year I skipped the whole year without having a period. I tried birth control for a while and it really messed things up for me instead of helping the cause.

Getting my cervix opened really helped. I was having more periods. It really hurts getting this done but the pain only lasts 30 seconds or so.

what do they do to get your cervix opened up?

my doctor has put me back on the pill for 3 months, in hope of starting to trigger my periods again. and then for me to come off it after that.
i am really upset though, as i dont want to be on the pill because i am trying to fall pregnant.

but my doctor said that not having my periods is really bad for me, and it is making my cysts worse. that is why she has told me to go back on the pill for a while.

how long did it take you to fall pregnant bassethounds? i am jealous
