PCOS advice! I'm a teen and I need advice!!
Hi,
I'm a teen and last year I was told that I had PCOS. My mom told me not to worry about it, so I haven't thought about it in about 7 or 8 months. But, my periods are irregular and it kind of annoys me because I don't know when my period is going to start and I don't want to have to worry about that all the time. I've had a few embarrassing situations. I have heard that taking Birth Control pills or Metforim (I don't know if that's right) would help regulate my periods. My mom is very strict so if I even suggest that she will probably get mad that I even know what Birth Control is. Also, I'm over weight. I have been ever since I was little. I'm in 8th grade and only last year did I start trying to lose weight. I weigh 133 lbs which is 23 lbs over weight. It's really hard for me to lose weight. I jog a mile to a mile and a half almost everyday and don't snack too much. But still I barely lose anything, and I have a super high metabolism so if I eat like one cookie I gain sooo much weight. My mom always said that taking multi vitamins would balance my hormones again, but I hate taking 4 huge pills a day. She also says that losing weight will even things out, but a bunch of people are saying that weight is not a big factor. I'm just worried about all the health risks and getting my periods on the right track. Please help me in giving me advice of what I can do to slowly balance things out! Thank you and I really appreciate your help!
