Hi All, I have been diagnozed with polycystic ovaries, and I also have under active thyroid. I have been put on metformin and take 2 500mg a day for about 4 months now. I am finding that the weight is very slowly coming off, but to me not fast enough.
I have bad feet. Chronic Plantar Fasciitis and other feet issues, and I try to go on the excersise bike everyday to help me with my weight loss. Its hard work but I try.
I would love to know if anyone else is on metformin and just to see how long it takes to loose weight. I am 13 stone 10 now, with clothes on. and really would love to be about 11 to 12 stones. It gets me down. Any info from anyone. Thanks for reading.
Well i didn't get diagnosed with PCOS until i was over 300 pounds. I started on Metformin, and my owner diet/exercise program and had lost 140lb in about 2 years time. It has been about 8 years since then and i continue to be about the same weight.
It may help decrease the stress on your feet too although fish oil supplements may help as well.

Hi, Thanks for answering me message. Yes I think I have come down alittle in weight, but I really do have to watch what I eat; It can be hard in winter time for my feet as I have arthritis and plantar fibromatosis (lumps) and it hurts. So trying to excersise can be difficult. However I think my weight will come of slowly, which is better than fast I guess. I will try some cod liver oil maybe, thanks. Always good to hear from someone who has similar problems.
I don't know about cod liver oil (i think the taste is terrible) I take pure omega 3 fish oil capsules.
May I ask if my weight would fall off if I was on 4 tablets, 500mg metformin a day, at the moment I am taking 2 tablets, 500 mg each a day. I wonder if the doc treating me will put me on more. Should I ask him.
