Re: PCOS then... NOT PCOS... :( confused and depressed
Jay- are you anywhere near Birmingham/London/Sway/Scotland?
I have heard really good things about Dr Gordon Skinner for thyroid care. You should look into him. He treats symptoms and doesn't just base your treatment on bloodwork, though your bloodwork probably will show hypothyroidism.

Im nere leeds.... But private doctor's are expencive and there not something where willing to go to unless its last resort. What treatment / tablets would i need?
Re: PCOS then... NOT PCOS... :( confused and depressed
Well, you haven't had all of the bloodwork, so I couldn't really speculate about what is going on with you. But since your TSH is high, I would imagine you would need levothyroxine. That is a synthetic T4 medication. However, some people also need a T3 medication because their body's don't convert T4 to T3 as they should. So, those people would either take a T3 hormone (called Cytomel) in addition to a T4 hormone (like synthroid) or they could take natural desiccated pork thyroid, which has both T4 and T3 in it. I am taking desiccated thyroid because I have very low levels of Free T3.
I don't know what you consider to be a lot of money for a doctor's appointment. I don't think you can really put a price on your health, especially if you are having no luck with the "free" doctor. I have started going to a doctor who charges $450 (290 pounds) for a 45 minute appointment, and it isn't covered by health insurance. It's what I had to do to get a competent doctor. You may have to do the same.
At least call around and find out about costs. It may be more reasonable than you anticipate.
