Hi! I was diagnosed with PTSD in 1999. I had a traumatic childhood and I avoid anything that seems like it is even close. My question is this: I have memories of bad things happening in my childhood but I don't have any good memories. I wonder if anyone else has this problem. I know several people block unhappy events such as the ones I remember. I blocked all of the happy memories.
Have you ever considered Hypnotherapy? When I read your post I remember going through exactly the same thing before in the past wondering why I had no good childhood memories to remember. When I went to Hypnotherapy my main goal for going was to help recall one good childhood memory...and sure enough I did! Please consider doing something like this...you may really enjoy it. If anything check into it...

You remember the bad events and not the good in your young life. There's something wrong with that picture. You need to remember those good things while dealing with the bad. Sort of putting things in their proper perspective as it were; striking a balance in order for you to have a healthy emotional life. You deserve it. We all do.
Sometimes life throws us a sucker punch. We miss some and get hit by others but it's how we react to getting hit that denotes who we are.
You need to sit down and talk with a professional to help you find that balance. You really do deserve a safe and healthy outlook on life and the positive life that goes with it. Talking with a doctor will help speed you to those ends.
