My general feeling (and I have close ties to the field as well) is that if you have/are going through counseling and have made progress or reached the point that you have worked through the issues by being totally honest, then it is time to try different med combos. I have severe PTSD, am still in counseling to keep everything in check (it took 12 years to get to the point where I don't NEED counseling at least once a week...I used to live for that hour a week). I take 120 mg of Cymbalta, 150 mg of Wellbutrin XR, 3 mg Clonapin, and PRN --> 10 mg Ambien or 1 mg Xanax. I also have MDD, which accounts for the sky-high dosing of anti-depressants. My son takes risperdal and it is a wonder drug for him.
I would try the medications (except putting yourself back on the buspar unless the dr. has told you to). You only want to try one new thing at a time because you want to know what it is that is working. Start one of the new meds for a couple of weeks and see what happens. If you are not significantly better, then start the other one on top of that. If that still doesn't work, talk with your dr. about the buspar.
Good Luck!!
