How I cope with day to day

Hi

How do I get through my day to day some days I just don't know how I just do. On my better days I stay busy doing a lot of things woods working, lapidary (making cabs for the wife she makes jewelry), in the summer yard work, target shooting both rifle and bow, fishing, and hunting in the fall, not to forget the weekly visits to my doc for my checkup and how are things going session (it does help though). Through in some TV and music there you have it.

I get through the day with the help of a loving wife who cares and tries to help and knows when to give me space and when to lissen, that means more to me than anything. I take it what ever happens in a day just on step at a time it may only be a small step if that is all I can take then that is good enough. On the times when I take a step forward and 5 step's back well it happens and just keep trying to take another step forward when I can.

That is how I get through my days short version

peace

Re: How I cope with day to day

Hi. Gunner, Welcome.

Sounds like you do your best to keep busy. When you can, that is. I know for myself doing even the smallest thing at a time when achieving anything seems impossible helps greatly. You are fortunate to have a loving spouse that supports you with love and support. My lady friend helps me along the same lines. I too do the Dr. visit and weekly therapy counseling and almost daily support group participation.

Hey, when I take one step forward and two steps back, I call that dancing, and dancing is fun…haha.. Dancing is life….sitting back and watching others dance is no fun at all….some dance steps are complicated and takes a lot of practice to learn… so keep plugging away… who knows you just might come up with a new dance step..lol..

Good to have you here Gunner….see you around….Zencat

Re: How I cope with day to day

Gunner,

Give yourself some credit.....You were in a tough place in Nam. So many of the vets have turned to drugs, are homeless, and their best friend is booze. That isn't a put down...............I can't imagine the hell that you guys went through, and continue on a daily basis with PTSD as your Siamese twin... But you made a choice. You married, you have continued with your life, you have hobbies, and you are seeking to become healthy. You have come a long way. Take a trip down memory lane and see just how far you have managed to make it....You are a survivor, and have chosen LIFE.... Be proud of what you have done so far....

Glad that you are here..

Sid
