Dear all:

On June 21st 2007, the FDA has approved Lyrica to help treat Fibromyalgia.

At least consider it, if you are not already taking this med.

Ryan ....what's the link with Lyrica and PTSD??? I understand the neurontin and Lyrica work the same way. Some say the side effects of lyrica are less nd others say they are less with neurontin. Funny you brought this up. It's on my list of questions when I see the PCP for personal health issues in July. Sid and I both have fibromyalgia. Thanks for the info. Worth checking into .

Dear Grasshopper and Sid:

Neurontin's absorption percentage decreases with each increasing dose, which is the opposite for Lyrica (at least in the clinical trials).

Sorry if the previous title was misleading.

Morning Ryan,,,Thanks for the info. My PCP has sugggested Lyrica a couple of times in the past year. I have a bad/good ? habit of reading all side effects before I take anything. I think, but will look again, that this might cause my glucose to go up and since I am diet controlled I don't want to risk it. I am and have been at my wits end with meds for a long time. I used to take elavil years ago for my back pain. Helped me sleep, eased the pain and kept my moods level. Would love to go back on it now but it interferes with my BP med. It's almost like Ihave to give up one health issue that's under control to get another under control. Make sense?

Thanks for the info. Right now I am on Cymbalta, and it helps...... Only AD that has ever worked without a zillion side effects. It helps with the pain from fibro, and depression from the PTSD......

I also take Mobic for arthritis pain once in awhile when I am about to lose my mind from the pain, and that works for about 4-5 days. I don't take it on a daily basis, because studies have shown (because it is in the same class as Celebrex, and Viox (sp) that it's not good for the heart.

I also can't take much because of the kidney failure...EVERYTHING bothers that. Including Mobic......But we have to do what we have to do. I can only deal with the pain for so long, and when I am almost at the point of losing what few brain cells I have left.....I run for the drugs. Ok, I don't run, I can't bad knees, I hobble......
