hi everyone,

I just registered for this board!

I have PTSD, due to two factors: childhood sexual abuse, and a recent incident that involved serious betrayal (by an authority figure). I have experienced serious hyperviligence and disassociation for the past several years.

It seems that my hyperviligence gets worse as I realize/feel the severity of the betrayal (of the childhood abuse combined with the recent incident of the authority figure who lied to me and abused his authority over me).

Does anyone experience hyperviligence due to betrayal ? It seems that they go hand-in-hand for me. Does this make sense to anyone ?

I have disassociation, but it has been better lately. My T says I suffer greatly from the Hypervigilance....i am aware of every sound, shalpe, noise, movement anywhere around me....in counseling, if there are sounds coming from the businesses next door, it's almost impossiblefor me to focus without jumping at any sudden noise....all part of my ptsd of abuse suffereing as a child and teen...I'm not sure I relate it specifically to betrayal, and yet, that is what happened to me......but.t comes and goes........Hope you can find some answers and some peace

If only I can bring myself to turn on the radio while in the car.
