Concerned For My Significant Other and Myself - Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Message Board

My significant other is in the army and was shot about 6 months ago,he is a Medic.He was diagnosed with PTSD,Anxiety,Paranoia,and Depression about 4-5 months ago,it's a huge struggle.He will be coming home very soon and I'm worried that he will have anger issues as well as having obsession.When we talk on the ******,our conversations are mostly negative because he hates being 3,500 miles away from home and what he went through.He seems very angry and paranoid especially when I go out or not answer his calls every time.I suffer alot and it is pushing me away from him,it's alot to handle with my own issues too.I don't know what to do,he is seeking help,but it's not going well.Please give some advice for me please!

Hi exblondeangel650 and welcome,

is there someone in the Army you can talk to about this as they would know what resuorces you could get hold of? A Chaplain, social worker? psyche? Liaison Officer? or is there a support group amoungst the wives? or a wife who you can trust to talk to about this?

Hello xblondeangel650,I don't have any answers for u but to hang in there like i have been. my husband has been home now for 1yr going on 2.He was in a sub.in the navy that close to going down,plus worked in womens prison where he saw girls hang themselves,anyway PTSD,DEP,RA,.It's really awful the way this **** can change a person.we r 47 yrs. have 2 kids 19 and 22.sometimes it's hard to be mom and dad.
I guess sometimes crying seems to help let the preasure off.also people to talk to,friends help,but they have no idea.
