'memory pain' << does any one else know what i mean?

I have PTSD, but i also get what i call 'memory pain'- although i am not sure what it is really called if there is a ame for it.
It is just pain from the pain i had during some of my trauma's...

???

I think I do know what you mean, if you mean "body memory." From time to time, I've felt a physical sensation of pain that is the same as the original pain that caused the trauma (without any physical trigger that would explain the pain). <removed> it's pretty common in ptsd.

Re: 'memory pain' << does any one else know what i mean?

I also experience that. I know how painful it can be and how confusing it is when you don't have the exact memory, or "regular" flashback to explain it. My Therapist is now even saying I have memory reactions or like I'm reexperiencing some trauma and think it's really in the present with different people. Does that make sense? I sure hope I'm not the only one on this one.

It totally makes sense captnanny, i experience the same things on a day to day basis. I seem to have pain that unexplainable or sit there jumping over and over for a short period of time not knowing what im jumping for at all. I tend to get worse if people around me make sudden movements or loud noises

realxation techniques and distraction techniques are good for when this happens - writing down any thooughts that are racing in your head also helps

Yes, I feel pain, physical pain, in the same places that I was hurt.....it is odd....I mean, it's hard to explain odd for someone who has never been there. It's hard to deal with because there's nothing, I guess, but the mind causing it so there's no way to ease the pain with Tylenol or such.....I guess...I don't know...but, yes, I know the feeling....I know the pain.

Good luck....

Re: 'memory pain' << does any one else know what i mean?

Hi Guys,

I've suffered alot with Memory pain over the last few days getting me down because any pain killer i take doesn't work and the pain is quiet intense. I've tried relaxation techniques and writing stuff down like what maybecrazy suggested but having no luck. Any ideas how i can get over these really horrible pains
