I tried to answer some of your other posts on other boards.

You have post-traumatic stress disorder simply because some one has said you fit the definition.

Never forget that these are labels invented by humans just to try and better describe problems to other professionals. The label is just a way to try and understand the problem and better help you. It really has nothing to do with you.

What you really have is your life and it is unique. Instead of calling it post-traumatic stress disorder they could say you have “nickie” and be just as correct.

I do not think many of your friends would probably even understand what post-traumatic stress syndrome is. But there is no reason that they need to find out or know that this is a label that one person has applied to you.

As far as how can you have it, I think it usually happens when you have problems in your life that you are not capable of dealing with emotionally.

So in a way younger people are more likely to get this because they have less skills and support in dealing with the problems of life
