My doctor suggested I might have PTSD... for pelvic pain
I've had pelvic pain issues for years. At first it was rupturing ovarian cysts, then a cyst that didn't rupture and was over 2.5" across that had to be removed. Then the pain continued so they removed my Left ovary (I know, it sounds like I'm on the wrong board, but hear me out for a second) and was diagnosed with endometriosis, although he removed most of it. The pain continued, so I found a new doctor and had a diagnostic sugery. She only found 2 tiny spots of it, which she removed, but the surgery is over and the pain continues.
She is a gyn specialising in pelvic issues so she knew it wasn't her field to diagnose me with something like PTSD, but she suggested I continue physical therapy (I've been going for a little over 3 months), and that I see a psychotherapist about possibly having PTSD.
I don't stress or suffer over any recurring bad memories and I can't think of anything that would have really caused me to get PTSD in the first place, but I'm fairly desperate to resolve the pain and so I'll try it if it might work. But... do you think it's possible to have PTSD and not know it, not have any traumatic recollections, and have only unexplained pelvic pain as the presenting symptom? I'm just a bit (ok, a lot) confused by her suggestion!
