Could I be pregnant?

Hello,
Okay so I'm sexually active and use no protection whatsoever. I think my period is near because of the cramps and because it's around that time. But I have a dark ring around areola and I was reading on it, for example questions and responses posted on here, the responses were that they could be pregnant.
So could I be pregnant or is it just hormones? Or what is it ?

Anytime you have unprotected sex you risk that you could be pregnant. You also risk STDs', HIV and other diseases which you don't want to get.

Unless you are trying to get pregnant and are 100% sure about your partner and their health history, you really should be using birth control and a condom, or at least the condom....

Yes, you could be pregnant and the only way to know for sure is to take a pregnancy test. Remember unless it is a blood test it will not be 100% accurate although the newer tests are fairly accurate at results.

Thank so much for responding, it's greatly appreciated. Anyways I started my period today so I'm not pregnant, I'm literally so relieved.
