Re: how to calculate unsafe periods

The unsafe period is around ovulation, which comes abut 14 days before your next period.

If you have very very regular periods, you can calculate when this might be and then avoid all sex for the days before and after. If you don't have regular periods you'll need a time machine, start your period, then go back 18 days and then make sure you don't have sex for the next week.

Basically, this is the rhythm method and has a ridiculously high failure rate. It should only be used by people who don't mind if they do end up pregnant.

Re: how to calculate unsafe periods

Thisby's right the rhythm method dose not work. If you are against using traditional birth control for religious or moral reasons you could use the Fertility Awareness Method which is much more than counting the days. For this method to work you must wake up at 5am and take your temp before you get out of bed. You chart the changes in temperature to figure out when you're ovulating it also involves checking your cervical mucous and cervical position everyday. If you want to use this method then you MUST read up on it and be very responsible. If you are not responsible enough for this method and you still want to have sex get some condoms and the pill, when both are used properly pregnancy is almost impossible.
