Am i pregnant? irregular period. please help me! i'm really CONFUSED.
my period decreases from 3-5 days to only 1 day for the past two months. i dont think it is spotting since it was enough to fill a pad. i dont know if it is normal for me to still be irregular. i am still a teenager but its been 7 years since i first had my period. i also dont know if i whould be worried that i might be pregnant since my boyfriend and i have been having sex for a year and we always used the withdrawal method. please tell me what could be happening to me. thanks.
as i said before, my period decreased from 3-5 days to just a day. that has happened for the past two months. my boyfriend and i have been having unprotected sex but he pulls out before ejaculation. i dont think that i confused my period with spotting because it was enough to feel a pad. Why could this be happening? what are the chances that i am pregnant? I REALLY NEED ANSWERS. please reply! thank you.
Hope this helps..
Anytime you have unprotected sex, you have a chance of pregnancy. The pull out method has been proven to be very poor at stopping pregnancy. That is why is still is referred to as being unprotected sex.
The more times you engage in sex, the odds grow, as you move through different parts of her cycle, actually making pregnancy more likely.
The good news is the this can be the last episode of unprotected sex for you two! You can get through this scare, and there is a good chance it is a scare, and use it to learn how scary it can be to imagine yourself pregnant. It is very easy these days to protect yourself and your partner. Take this chance to never let yourself feel this way again, OK?
If you have not had a normal period in two month's, I would take a pregnancy test, every two weeks until you get your regular period.
Best of luck!

thank you so much for answering! yes this would be the last episode of unprotected sex between the two of us. and i would be buying a pt tomorrow. if it says negative.. then could i stop worrying? and.. could pregnancy be the reason why my period decreased or could it be that im just not regular yet? thanks so much!
A blood test for pregnancy would be better. You can get one done at Planned Parenthood or another reproductive health clinic.
Blood tests are more sensitive and can tell you definitively "yes" or "no" as soon as you miss a period.
A home urine test is not as sensitive and can occasionally give false negatives.
I am currently four and a half months pregnant, and I tested negative on home pregnancy tests until a week after I'd missed my period (at which point I went to the clinic and found out that yes, I was pregnant).
I also had this experience with one of my previous pregnancies.
Some women just don't produce enough pregnancy hormone soon enough for home pregnancy tests to be very effective.
But blood pregnancy tests are always effective, and can give you a clear answer much sooner- usually even before you miss a period.

There are other reasons for short period, like antibiotics, dehydration, are you on any medication for anything? Even cold and flu can make periods short sometimes...but if you worried abt pregnancy and get the all clear, go on the pill. But I fell pregnant on the oral pill twice because if you forget a dose or 2 it makes you MORE fertile.!Get the depo needle if you can, as it is foolproof, and you can still be comfortable in natural feeling sex withgout the worry of pregnancy or forgetfullness...dont count on withdrawal as PRECUM is as potent as the real thing.

i'm not on any medication. but im thinking that maybe i am stressed out cause of school and work. also, i am anemic. does that count to something? thank you very much!
yes being anemic may definately be part of it, as blood is a part of the mix of course...even stress can affect them. also hormone imbalances, but the pill can help balance things there. Rule out the big reasons first, obviously pregnancy, then check the other ones out one by one, get on the pill, drink more water, did u know that watermelon has good iron in it, by the way? try iron supplements from the chemist perhaps? if all that fails, get a hormone test from the doctor...that can indicate if something is not functioning properly down there or in there....but dont stress, cause that wont help either. just make the list of possible causes, and work through it. getting to know your own body is a smart thing to do anyway...it can serve you very well for the rest of your life.
