Question This doenst sound right to me.....

I have a question about when i ovulate.......... i did this online thing and it said Aug. 6-11 but I had my period on the 27th and it lasts 5-6 days.... I was told you ovulate about 14 days after you period... accroding to that online OT its 5 days after my period... this doesnt sound right... and i dont think my cycles being 27 days instead of 28 would alter it that much..... i guess the question(s) is, does that sound right... enought if you included the days i was on my period it only comes up to 11 days.... i'm kinda confussed.... does anyone have any answers or commits?

Re: This doenst sound right to me.....

everyone is different. you cannot go by the online predictor. the best thing to do is buy the ovulation kits available at the stores. there are 2 kinds...the saliva test, which costs $20 on up....but it can be used over and over..never have to throw it away. Or you can buy the 7 day kits---which cost $11.00 on up. The first time you use it, I would start testing the day your period ends....then you can figure out about when to test during the months after (if you didnt conceive the first month). Example:--I tested the first time once my period ended up until it showed that ovulation was about to occur--which was CD 15. The next month, I started testing around CD 11----as ovulation days arent always the same each month---usually no more than a couple of days difference. So, to be sure that you are accurate about when you are ovulating, I would test a few days before your last months ovulation time...to make sure that you dont miss it...if it should be different than the previous month. hope this helps.

Re: This doenst sound right to me.....

obviously an online calendar can not know you, nor predict your ovulation. it is merely a tool that you can use or not, but does NOT unsure accuracy. to do this you have to get in touch and familiar with your own body and cycles. there is a book called 'taking carge of your fertility' by toni whelcher (i think i spelled the last name wrong) that will teach you everything you need to know in that department. i guess several members here have used it and it had worked wonders. Blastoff knows more than me, maybe she will respond!
