Question Braxton Hick's contractions??

What exactly do these feel like? I am 35 weeks and my tummy will sometimes get really really firm. It doesnt hurt, just gets hard. Is this Braxton Hick's? Sometimes it seems to happen over and over for a while then stop and none at all. Is it too early for something like this? It kinda worries me sometimes. Thanks.

Re: Braxton Hick's contractions??

My doctor told me that this was normal at this time frame. It's your bodys wasy of preparing for the real thing.

Re: Braxton Hick's contractions??

Mine started at 14 weeks. Tummy tenses up and gets really hard. My doctor didn't seem concerned about it. I got mine with some slight pain. Ligament stretching doc said and nothing to worry about.

Re: Braxton Hick's contractions??

Mine also started very early in my second pregnancy. Yes, it is your bodies way of preparing for the real thing. It feels exactly like you say...your tummy tightens or firms and then relaxes. Sometimes they are timeable, and sometimes they are not. Sometimes they can start the dialation process around 36 weeks or so. In my second pregnancy by the time I was 38 wks pregnant I was 3 cm dialated.

Re: Braxton Hick's contractions??

i started having mine early in my preg. about 16-20 weeks or so.
they are normal....and wont hurt you or the baby.
now how i could tell the difference in the real thing from BHicks is that it felt like the worse menstral cramp I have ever had.....
you will know the diff.

ohh and to answer your ?
they feel like exactly what you described....tighting of the uterus, usually with no pain sometimes with.
my dr. said that if you have more than 5-6 in one hours go to the hospital just to be safe.
although i had up to sometimes 8 and 10 in an hour...went the the dr. and it was nothing.
you are far enough along to not worry to much about these, even if it was real labor at this point the baby should be fine.
(i had my daughter at 36.5 weeks)
