Joanie Michelle is here

Well we are home safe and sound. The delivery was awesome except that my epidural did not take so I had to have the baby naturally. Joan Michelle was born at 1:57 pm friday August 13, 2004. She weighed 6lb and 10oz. She is 19 inches long

Re: Joanie Michelle is here

congrats!!!!!!!

So seriously what is natural child birth like, compared to an epidural. I was in labor for 4 (yes, 4)days last time around. I remember nothing except the pushing, which didnt phase me. But does that mean that they dont give you ANYTHING for the pain???

I hope you continue to do great!!

Re: Joanie Michelle is here

Natural childbirth compared to epidural was alot different but I must say almost better. I pushed for 1.5 hours with my first one (epidural) but I did not feel anything. So I was not pushing right. Also i rememeber afterwards my legs felt weird and I did not have a clear thought process and I could not walk well etc from the medication.

This time I pushed for about 10 minutes. I knew that i had to push because you just feel it. Also as soon as they were done with me I could get up and walk to the bathroom and pee on my own instead of bed pan or catather. Also the recovery was alot quicker. The really bad pain was about 45 minutes worth when I was dialitng from 7-10. That hurt but It really did not hurt when it came time to push. I think if we have a 3rd I will definately go natural.
