I was wondering when should I test if I'm very irregular? I have been on a medication to get me regular and I think with the new cycle I am a day late. But if a person doesn't know when to test how long after conception should they wait.
Hi Dolphin, I am very irregular also. When I tested, I wasen't expecting to be pregnant, me and dh we "trying but not" for a few months, anyway, one night I had incredible cravings for broccoli?!?! I mean I have craved food before, but this was just weird. I didn't even think to take a hpt, but I was out christmas shopping and came across the isle with the tests and thought I wonder....... since it was only about 5 weeks since my last period (I usually go 6-8) I didn't expect it to come back positive, but it did. hope this helps somewhat .....

I think 8 days might be a little early, because the little bean would have just barely implanted, and is probably not churning out enough hcg to turn an hpt positive. To be safe, 14-16 days will get you a positive if you are pg, and not waste a ton of money on testing too early.
Another really helpful idea, especially when you are irregular, is to begin charting your temperatures. You can read about it on the internet, or there is a great book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." You can learn to read your body's fertility signs and learn your most fertile time. I thought 8 days was too early to, but have had 3 friends with bfp between 8 and 11 days with tests at the Womens Health Center. They may be different tests though, I dont know exactly what tests they were.

thanks for all your posts. I've had some very minor symptoms, nothing that screams 'oh my gosh I could be pregnant.' It's now been 3 weeks, I last tested at 18 days past bd. I have just been so sore that the thought have BD at all makes me hurt. Going to get a little gross here. DH usually uses his finger to get me warmed up, but lately just his finger hurts too bad. I figure I have a sore or something inside. I'll let it get better for another week, and if still in pain then I'll go to a doc. Also my boobs have been super sore, usually when they are sore its just the nipple but this time around it's the whole thing, and let me tell you when you are carrying DD cup boobs the soreness can get pretty bad.
All else fails I have heard if your temp stays slightly elevated you should test. As in if you are charting. I don't know that much about charting or being irregular but I believe that is what they say. Good luck
