Prenatal Vitamins

Hi ladies, its me again. I was wondering does anyone know how much of this prenatal vitamins I should take? It says the 'serving size' is one pill and I do know that there is 800mg of folic acid in one pill. Is that enough?

Re: Prenatal Vitamins

400 mcg's is the recommended daily allowance and what my doctor recommended to me when trying to conceive. Hope that helps!

Re: Prenatal Vitamins

my doctor told my to make sure i had 1mg(i think thats right) folic acid in my prenatal vitams. You can have your doctor prescribe some too. When i did that i found out it cost the same as it did over the counter. Now i am sure that will be based on the brand and your insurance coverage.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins

I would say if you're worried about folic acid you should find it somewhere else rather than taking extra prenatal vitamins. It seems like I read that some of the other vitamins that are generally included can be dangerous for the baby if you take too much. I may be wrong about that and anyone else can feel free to correct me, but from what I read I think its best to be careful taking more than recommended.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins

800mcgs which is 200% of the daily value) is certainly enough and no you sould NOT double prenats or any vits. a vit a or vit d overdose can be really dangerous....

remeber pre nats are made for ttc and preg ladies, it is enough or they would add more. no need to over do it.

congrats and good luck!!!!

Re: Prenatal Vitamins

I took the regular prenatal viatimins and then an extra mg of folic acid. I would not double up on your prenatal vitamins as that could cause some problems from having so much. Good luck.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins

i can asure you that 800 is enough....though my doc said i could take 300% of the daily value (instead of just 200 % which is what was in pre nat)
