Question Getting Uterus Back To Original Size

During my stay at a hospital after my third son was born, which was this past May, a nurse told me that with each pregnancy a woman has, it takes her uterus longer to get back to its original size, because it has to contract harder, since it loses some of its elasticity.

I have a pudge that I'm not quite sure is fat or my uterus enlarged. My skin feels tight, but I look bloated. How do you tell the difference?

I didn't breastfeed for long (less than a month), which I've been told helps shrinks the uterus.

So for a woman who didn't breastfeed for long and just gave birth to her third child almost three months ago, about how long should it take for her uterus to return to its original size? A year? Longer?

I think they are talking weeks, not months or years for it to get back to normal. The pudge could be just the way your body settled back down after having your baby.

Re: Getting Uterus Back To Original Size

I've read that it takes about 6 weeks for the uterus to go back to its regular size.
