Has anyone taken a prenatal yoga class? Would you recommend it? There is one in my community that I am thinking about joining. It advertises that it opens the muscles of the pelvis, reduces pressure on ligaments and eases lower back pain, which I have been struggling with since 12 weeks along. I thought it might be good for me, but I have never done yoga before and don't know much about it. Any thoughts?
I know that there are alot of women out there who do yoga while pregnant, as long as you are not high risk or anything. Because I am high risk, I couldn't do yoga if I were to become pregnant again. Talk to your doctor about it, and as long as he gives the ok, it would be a good way to meet other people. Best of luck to you.
I have taken yoga and palates for years and I will continue to through out my pregnancy. I wish my gym had a prenatal glass but any form of yoga is very good for you as long as you don't feel any discomfort. Some of the positions in
my class are too advanced for me now so I just take the stretch to where I am comfortable.
I think women who do prenatal yoga have less aches and pains and also have easier labor. I would definately do it if I had a yoga class in my area. This is my fourth (and hopefully LAST) kid and never did any kind of classes. Good Luck, have fun and tell us how it goes if you do take yoga .
Nikolas Mateo will be here within the next 2 weeks!!!
Thanks for the input. I'm not one to exercise normally, although I got into pilates for a little while before getting pregnant. I like the idea of excercise that is specifically designed for pregnant women, and this one seems to focus on the areas that I have been experiencing pain during this pregnancy. I also like the idea of an easier labor but understand it doesn't come with any guarantees...LOL. It's only once a week for 5 weeks and $49. Even if I don't like it, it's not too much to commit to. I'm going to sign up!
