I'm officially late for my period and tried to take an HPT this morning but it came up negative. Has anyone else had false negative tests? If my period doesn't start withint the next week, I'll try again but I'm oh-so-worried. ha! Thanks for your help.
oh geez...those were not the answers I wanted. My heart sunk to my feet when I read what you all said about false negatives being common. Tomorrow makes 2 days late for my period but I've been cramping since this last Sunday. Headaches, little bit of nausea here and there, dizzy at times. They feel like PMS symptoms to me and if I were on my period right now I wouldn't have a care in the world but...well...I'm not!!

I guess today makes 3 days late including the day I missed when my period was supposed to start. No, I'm ashamed to say I wasn't on bc. I lived with him for a month and we never used protection. That month was the biggest mistake of my life (seriously...I could write a book about it) but now I'm home with family and getting so much support. Don't worry, if I'm pregnant I'll love this child more than anything. It's just hard on me knowing I could be bringing an innocent child into this world with no father. *sigh* Once again, I'll let you all know what's happening as it happens. Meghan
All right...update. I just took an HPT(around 7pm) and it came out negative. I'm now almost 5 days late with my period. Here goes another week of waiting and wondering. I'm just NOT convinced that I'm not pregnant.

Thought I'd see if you knew if you take the HPT first thing in the morning, before you drink anything your urine is more concentrated and if you are pregnant the HCG is highest which will show up on the tests better, some women just have low HCG in early pregnancy so you may need to do it in the morning or go to your DR and they can do a blood test to confirm it, or in the very least start to do some tests to find out why AF is so late. Yeah, I know it's better to wait for morning to test, but I was so incredibly impatient tonight. I guess 5 days overdue (as of tomorrow) could still be too early for me but......grrrr!
Wait a few days and take another one. Actually, I took one with my first pregnancy when I was roughly 9 wks, and it came up negative. I never figured out if it was something wrong with the test or what. It was weird though.
Like someone else on here said....it isnt impossible to get a false negative, it may be that your hormone levels arent at the point where the hpt can pick it up. However, you wont get a false positive. If you did....the hpt company would have some serious explaining to do, I would think.
9 weeks?! Maybe me feeling pregnant isn't in my head afterall. Tomorrow will make me a week overdue with my period and, I'm telling you, I FEEL pregnant. My abdomen is so tight and "heavy" and I've been cramping for a week and 3 days now.
Don't know anyone personally who had false negatives, but I've heard they're a lot more common than false positives. Keep us posted I'm anxious to hear what's up with you.
Good news (I think)...I did start what I think is my period today. It started off this morning with dark brown discharge which was odd and later the normal red but it's mostly blood clots! They aren't big, just lots of small ones but it still concerns me. My cramping has gotten A LOT worse today also. Anyhow, I'm pretty sure this means I'm not pregnant (or I'm miscarrying which would be awful but I'm trying not think of it that way). Once this all ends and I'm positive I'm not pregnant, I'm a born-again virgin until I marry! And no, I'm not kidding.
Well, I am glad you aren't finding yourself in a position you weren't ready for. I hope everything works out for you. Just wanted to say that and also that there aren't any false positives on hpt's. There have been FAINT lines in the test window, but I am talking so light you have to have it under a bright light and use some imagination to see the line. I would still see a doc if I were you. I have heard of women(some in my family) who don't get positives from an hpt till they are about 4 months along. I am not trying to scare you or anything but if this was a miscarriage you need to make sure your body is taking care of it. Good Luck to you!!

I was suppose to start on the 8th of the month and I didnt get a positive until the 17th!! I guess my HCG was really low. Glad to here you got what you were hoping for though
