Okay, so does that mean I have to chug 2 bottles of water at 2:15 (appointments at 3:15) or drink it starting at 2:15 and be finished by 3:15? I have no idea how I am going to be able to do this and not pee myself. Any hints to help me through? I have to go like every hour even when I havent drank anything. Thanks
Hi, when i had my ultrasound when I miscarried last year they told me whatever the amount was (I think it was 2 or 3 litres) and no food until the ultrasound appointment and of course no going to the bathroom.
I was allowed to start in the morning when I got up, and my appointment was at 2 PM.
I wouldn't worry about doing it all an hour before. They just want to make sure that your bladder is full as they can see more (I think that's why, I can't remember the reason but I think that's it).
yeah i would drink as much water as you can... i know what you mean about having to pee every hour even when i havent drank, but i got through it and i know you will... and if you havent drank enough water, the person doing the ultrasound usually has water there for you... and then you just drink as much more as you can and they will check you again... ill let you know now that they press on your tummy/blatter just hard enough so that you dont pee your pants...lol... you'll do fine.. let us know how it goes

You should finish drinking the water 1 1/2 hrs. before your appt., because it takes 1 hr. for the water to settle in your bladder. And, your bladder must be completely full for the u/s. Good luck!
I had my ultrasound last week at 19 weeks and I had to drink 24 ozs of water, an hour and a half before my appointment. Boy it was rough because I had to pee sooooo bad lol. I ended up going to the bathroom a little about 3 times because they were 30 minutes late taking me in for my appointment. Imagine my shock and disappointment when the ultrasound tech said "Your bladder is too full, you can go pee." LOL.
The only time I had to drink that much water or anything for that matter before an ultrasound was the first one at 14 weeks. I have had 3 more since then and have had to empty my bladder to give a urine sample before the u.s. I don't know how far along you are, but drink as much as you can, and hold it when you get there. I remember having to go so bad that when I did go, I couldn't for a minute, then it hurt, like a lot of pressure going through the urethra. Good luck!
I was never given instructions to drink any water, and the ultrasound was fine. She even moved around enough for us to get clear pictures of the sex. I drink a lot of water anyway, but I did go to the bathroom before hand.
Sivaarar, I am suprised you weren't told to drink. US works through liquids which is why your bladder needs to be full. Did you have an internal US rather than an external one (where they run the probe over your belly)? I think you have to have an empty bladder for them because otherwise it gets in the way.
I was told to empty my bladder 1 1/2 hours before the appointment time. Then to drink 32 oz of water in the next 30 minutes to finish 1 hour before the appointment time. I finished it about 45 minutes before (almost forgot about the water) and the tech did part of the ultrasound then I had to wait 15 minutes for my bladder to fill up before she could finish. I guess it's important.
I had an excellent ultrasound tech last time who told me that you do not need to hold all of that water. She said that you can't see the cervical length when the bladder is too full. i drank until I felt full enough, but not about to burst. Plus, all of that pressure in your bladder, I believe, starts to put pressure on the uterus.
