| Went to hospital last night w/ contractions.
We spent our New Years Eve counting down in the L&D dept. I was having cramps that were different from anything I'd ever felt with DS. They were much lower and menstrual like, with pressure and this cervix stabby feeling that I remember having at 36 weeks when I started dilating.
I drank some water and laid down, they didn't go away, and we decided it's better to be safe than sorry. So it was off to the hospital. They give all preterm moms the full work up when they come in, so they checked urine and swabs for any BV or UTI, all of which was negative.
They checked my cervix and said it was open at the bottom but long and closed on the inside, which is very common when a woman has already had a vaginal delivery. I was contracting on the monitor, so they did a tranvaginal u/s to check my cervical length. The doc actually said that I had one of the longest cervixes he'd ever seen. LOL. He said anything over 3 cm assured them that there was no PTL, and mine was 4.16 cm. Apparently this baby is hanging out for a while.
After the urine dip, the official diagnosis was dehydration. From my urine and my BP was low too. I usually drink plenty, but the last week we've been going out alot, shopping and to eat b/c my parents were here, so I've been drinking alot less water and too much soda I guess. They said caffiene is very dehydrating. So I've been on orders to rest and drink tons of water all weekend and call the doc back on Sunday or come in if symptoms don't improve. I drank a ton last night and today and have felt fine.
So here's a reminder to DRINK DRINK DRINK DRINK!!!!!
