Re: Hard stomach?

Also, contractions don't have to be painful, especially in a first time pregnancy. Tell me more, if there's any other symptoms.

Re: Hard stomach?

Most likely Braxton Hicks. Normal "practice" contractions of the uterus. I had those same contractions with both pregnancies. My tummy would get hard and they would happen if I was walking, had a full bladder, moving bowels, the baby moved a certain way, etc. It's very normal as long as they don't regulate. If you have more than 3 or 4 in an hour, you need to call a doctor just in case.

Re: Hard stomach?

Because I am overly cautious, I would call the doctor just to be certain. Or go in just to be checked. It 's always best to be cautious, I learned the hard way. If they do regulate, as the other poster said, you need to be seen right away, as it could be preterm labor. Especially if you start to feel any backache. But, I say please call. Also, make sure you are well hydrated.

Also, make sure you are well hydrated. sometimes first time labors can be rather painless and unassuming. I would rather you be overly cautious. And please, if the doctors office receptionist says oh its nothing, don't take her word (again, I learned the hard way). Leave a message strictly for the doctor. Good luck.
