Re: Breast milk!

All women are different. I dried up too quickly because I wasn't pumping enough. some may keep their milk longer. Question: If it's there, why not pump it? It's so good for baby. If not, it will dry up. Try sleeping on your stomach. Somedoctors recommend a tight fitting bra, if you wish it to go away.

Re: Breast milk!

Mine took about 9 months to dry up. I don't know if it has to do with how long you breastfed and how much milk was being used at the time, but I know I still could squeeze milk out after 9 months, luckily I didn't leak anywhere, it just took awhile to all dry up.

Re: Breast milk!

My aunt said that I should have dried up by now, and that my hormoans are still messed up. I know there are medications to dry up breast milk, has anyone ever taken any?

Re: Breast milk!

By the way I went to my GYN about 6 months after I had finished breasfeeding and he said it is normal...some women have no problems and other women can squeeze milk for quite a long time afterward. I didn't leak and had no discomfort so I just let nature run its course. But I heard cabbage leaves can help....when I had engorgement they recommended putting a raw cabbage leaf in my bra cupping my breast but said not to leave it too long because it can decrease you milk....maybe try that...leave it on all night.

Re: Breast milk!

LOL I used cabbage when I had to stop BFing DD cold turkey. It worked well for me. Though it's been 8 months since i stopped and I still get shooting pains though my breasts once in awhile like they felt when the were engorged. Dr says it's normal though.
When you use the cabbage take the whole leaves and crack them a bit then place them in your bra cupping your breasts, and change them as they wilt. I did this for about a week and it really helped to dry me up. I wonder what the 16 year old boy at the cash would have thought if he knew what I was buying all that cabbage for, LOL.

Re: Breast milk!

That is too funny. Im sure he would have never guessed that was the reason you were buying cabbage.
