1-3 weeks

I was wondering if a trans vaginal ultrasound can detect a pregnancy as early as 1 to 3 and a half weeks??

Re: 1-3 weeks

Pregnancy is usually measured in weeks from the first day of your last period. So to say "1 week pregnant" is kind of a contradiction, because your first week of "pregnancy" occurs before fertilization even happens. So, for example, if you got your period on December 1, and ovulated and got pregnant on December 15, on December 28 you would be FOUR weeks pregnant, not two.

That said, I am assuming you are asking if an ultrasound can pick up a pregnancy at 1-3 weeks past conception (aka 3-5 weeks pregnant). I think yes, if the doctor is looking for a pregnancy. I had an ultrasound at 4 weeks 2 days (2w2d after conception) and the ultrasound showed a thick uterine lining and a tiny spot, no bigger than a typed period. I certainly wouldn't have know what it was if the nurse hadn't pointed it out to me. As it turns out, I ended up miscarrying, so I don't know if a healthy pregnancy would have looked different at 4w2d. I know the nurse didn't seem concerned from looking at the ultrasound.

I hope you get the result you want!

Re: 1-3 weeks

I had my Period dec 16 and I had intercourse 25,27,29,and Jan 1st I have a cd of 31-32 and I think my lp is 16 so if I were preg how many weeks would that be, because in the trans vag ultrasound they only saw fluid in my tubes.

Re: 1-3 weeks

Hi you would still be very very early and more than likely too early to show anything on a u/s . By your last period you would only be about 3.5 weeks to 4 weeks and in actual pregnancy time only about 2 weeks. Have you had a positive pregnancy test ?

Re: 1-3 weeks

It takes about 10 days after the egg is fertilized to implant in your uterus. You would not be able to detect a pregnancy before then. That is typically about 4 weeks from your last period, or 2 weeks from ovulation.

Re: 1-3 weeks

If your period started on 12/16, and you are pregnant, likely your doctor will tell you that you are 4 weeks pregnant on 1/13, 5 weeks pregnant on 1/20, etc.

If you take a pregnancy test on Saturday, it will probably give you accurate results. From what I've read from other people, it doesn't seem worth it to spend the extra money on the "5 days sooner" tests. I would just buy a drugstore generic test and take it on Saturday with first morning urine. Good luck!!

Re: 1-3 weeks

I had aTV U/S at 5 1/2 weeks (3 1/2 weeks after conception). They could see a "sac-like structure" in the uterus. That's it. The positive urine test I obtained by 2 weeks post-conception. That was really the only proof, until the next U/S, where the fetus was obvious.
