2nd trim. & going to gym?

Any other ladies out there who are in the second trimester (I'm at the very beginning of it) and still going to the gym to work out? I skipped about a month of exercise because I felt so barfy all the time, but now that I'm feeling better, I'm starting to go again...mostly pilates classes and aerobics (some cardio - modified, of course - and free weights). Just curious?

Re: 2nd trim. & going to gym?

I am not going to the gym, but I can give you a couple important tips. First, You might want to wear a heart monitor. I know that you're not supposed to let your heart rate go above 141 bpm. Also, you are not supposed to let your temperature rise past 101, as this can do damage to the baby. Stick to the cardiovascular exercises such as jogging, walking, swimming, etc. Don't do anything that can put downward pressure on your pelvic area You might want to ask an exercise physiologist or trainer at the gym which exercises do this. Also, if you're a runner, you can buy a special band to put around your waistas you grow to help support your belly so it's not bouncing all over the place. That always made me nervous. Good luck.
