Questions about Ultrasound/Low AFP/and actual EDD
I had a detailed ultrasound today due to abnormal results on my quad screen test (low AFP for Downs Synd). I was a complete wreck all week, dreading the thought of having a risky amnio. I am 30yrs old and my ratio was 1:207. After having the ultrasound and finding everything normal and no soft markers for downs and nothing abnormal, my risk went down to 1:310. There are no birth defects, etc in either mine or my husbands family. So we opted not to have the amnio since my risk for downs was lower than risk for miscarriage w/ amnio(1:200). I know the timing you have the screening done (quad screen) is important in determining your risk. Well now after having the ultrasound today, I don't know how pregnant I am? Here;s my history:
OB's EDD according to 10 week vaginal ultrasound-8-13-05 (OB's office)
Ultrasound Tech's EDD according to today's ultrasound-8-7-05 (Hospital)
I thought I was 17w5 days today, but todays ultrasound confirms 18w3days according to measurements. Here's the thing...I'm pretty sure I conceived on Nov 2oth, which is 3 weeks past my LMP (so I didn't ovulate on time) so I am very confused on what my actual age of pregnancy is. If I count back from conception I am 15w5days. Do I add 2 weeks or 3 weeks? Please somebody help me figure this out?
