Hi, all. I'm forever worrying that I'm not getting enough calcium. I hate milk and have to make myself swallow it. My Dr. said to make sure I drink my glass of milk everyday and eating properly should be enough, but I worry.
How much are others drinking? Are you taking supplements?
I do not drink milk either! Yuk! I also take viactive but I only take one. It also has vitamin d and k. OB says it's good to take if you can't handle milk.
What about yogurt, cheese or ice cream? I don't like milk either, so I eat more yogurt. It's not my favorite, but it's better than trying to choke down a glass of milk.
I don't like cows milk at all. I use soymilk in my cerial and oatmeal. I also eat cheese on my sandwich everyday and yogurt. I never calculated how much I am eating but they always say the baby gets what it needs from you even if you don't have it, it takes away from you. Does anyone know if there is a test to see if your getting enough of everything you need?
I do drink chocolate milk when I can and I like cottage cheese and pudding, so eat that every other day. I have heartburn regularly now and eat at least a couple tums every day. I've had a habit of having ice cream (if I had to choose a craving this is it) at night before bed. I try not too because of the calories, but that isn't the worst thing in the world.
I guess I get a bit more calcium than I thought, but how do you know it's enough??
Thank you for all your replies. The suggestions are great and I'm going to check out the viactive. On the other hand, can you get too much calcium??
Eat 2 indigestion tablets! each one usually contains 500mg of calcium carbonate! check the packet. Perfect way to get calcium! they say we should all eat a few rennies or something anyway, pregnant or not.
