Im almost 25 weeks pregnant and every week closer to my due date I get more and more stressed out about my labor. Not becuase Im affraid of the pain or anything Im so worried that I wont make it to the hospital in time.
This is my third baby with my first labor lasted 20 hours I had plenty of notice and time to get to the hospital and my second labor was only lasted 3 hours I barely made it to the hospital in time. Now the closest hospital and the one that I will be delivering at is 45 minutes away and thats if the traffic is good.
I am so stressed out that I will deliver in the car on the side of the road I have been having nightmares about this and it worries me almost everyday.
My doctor told me that I will most likely deliver in less time than my last baby...thats insane less than 3 hours why did my doctor have to tell me that.
Does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with this type of stress should I be prepared to possibly deliver at home or should I just live at the hospital a week before Im due.
I really dont want to have this baby outside the hoptial babies born outside of hospitals have to stay 2 days longer than those born in side them.
Any advice on this would really be helpful
Thanks
Robyn
Could you stay somewhere closer around your due date? I had a quick labor the first time around and am nervous about not making it in time for an epidural this time around. My hospital is only 10 minutes away.
I had a friend who was induced 2 weeks early because she lived an hour and half out of the city...if that's not an option I'd try to stay somewhere closer to the hospital for the last couple weeks. Goodluck....I'm hoping for a quick one this time round, you gave me some inspiration...I was 21 1/2 hours with my first.
Hmmm having my labor induced I never thought of that I'll talk to my doctor about that at my next visit and see if they would be willing to do that for me.
But Im not sure if they would since I am only 45 minutes away not as far as your friend. I was thinking that getting a police escort would be a good idea.
Staying somewhere closer isnt an option I couldnt afford to stay somewhere and also risk not having someone show up in time to look after my two daughters who of course would have to stay there with me.
Robyn I am so glad you posted this! I am ABSOULTELY TERRFIED that my baby is coming in the car, and early. I have told my husband ( a nurse, who has actually delivered one baby, lol) that he MUST be in the car with me, even though he works at the hospital I am delivering at and may not be home when it is time! The hospital is about 45 minutes away, not that bad, but still I am so freaked out! I do not have any idea on how to not worry. I have considered discussing early indcution, my Mom had me in about 6 hours and my sis in about 2, actually my sis almost came in the car, when they got to the hosptial, the nurse could see her head! Apparetnly how fast your Mom delivers has somethign to do with how fast you deliver.
