pain of labor

Can the pain of labor be considered equal to the pain of a miscarriage? I miscarried three years ago and remember being in pain. I had terrible cramps in my sides and back. I was young and didn't contact a doctor to help the process. Instead, I layed on my couch and balled my eyes out from the pain. My mom even came right out and asked me if I was miscarrying because of my behavior. I passed blood clots the size of a 5 year old's fist that day. Was I contracting? Is that how it feels to be in labor at 9 months?

Re: pain of labor

Ive never had a mc but yes its contractions you were having and chances are its the same feeling you will have during hard labor. It may be worse during actual labor becouse the babys bigger though unless your opting for the epidural. But the contractions are the same.

Re: pain of labor

I've had 2 miscarriages and a healthy pregnancy! Labor is so much different then a miscarriage...take the miscarriage pain and multiply that by 100 and you get what labor feels like! When you are in labor with a full term baby the contractions are very strong very intense and last longer...for an early miscarriage you experience cramping more then contractions. You say you passed blood clots the size of a 5 yrs olds fist...try to put into perspective a blood clot and a cantalope (babys head) ...blood clots are squishy and small compared to a hard solid cantalope...right there is another point that labor will be worse then a miscarriage! Good Luck!
