fetal movement- 20 weeks

Hi All,

I am now 20 weeks and about 1 week ago I began to feel my daughters squirming and kicking. A couple days ago, the movement became more frequent but today I only felt her a couple of times. Last week, the doctor explained that my placenta is at the front of my stomach so I would only feel her movement at the sides and lower abdomen. Does anyone know if it is common at 20 weeks for the fetal movement feelings to be sporatic from day to day?

Re: fetal movement- 20 weeks

Most likely, cause they are still really small, and it's hard to feel them all the time. Try laying ON your stomach, or putting some pressure on it, that made it easier for me to feel it. My placenta is at the front too, and I had alot of trouble at first. And I still have days (34 weeks) where my little guy doesnt' move a whole lot. Then other days he just goes crazy in there! You can try drinking something really sweet, like OJ or fruit juice, (Frosted flakes and juice always get my baby moving!) and then laying on your side, but that might not work so early on.
If you are really worried call your dr.
Good luck!

Re: fetal movement- 20 weeks

That has happenned to me too...I'm in week 22 (week 23 begins tomorrow!)...and right around week 20 I think I went for an entire week without feeling anything. It was frustrating because I had just learned the week before that the feelings I was experiencing was actually the baby and not digestion.

The feelings came back...and I'm surprised how quickly they have gotten so much stronger and obvious just between then and now. If you're worried, you should call your doc.
