Question What makes a test come back positive?

Hello everyone
Besides pregnancy?.. I could definalty be pregnant but want to know if a yeast infection could make the test positive? I took one last night and there were two lines -positive-. Just wondering before I tell dad. Thanks! - KC

Re: What makes a test come back positive?

Well I have heard (from my RE) there are no false positives, only false negatives. And the hpt is measuring the amount of HCG levels in your urine, these levels increase to sustain a pregnancy. Congrats!

undefinedundefinedI am not an expert or anything but I dont believe that would have anything to do with it..Home pregnancy tests detect HCG, a hormone your body produces during preganancy and yeast infections dont produce that hormone! I would go to the doctor and get a blood pregnancy test though!

I dont believe a yeast infection causes a pregnancy test to come back positive, i had one with my first baby and like one of the others said a yeast infection does not have the hormone HcG in it so congrats and enjoy the journey that lies ahead of you, despite the discomforts it the most wonderful time in a womans life!!

The only other thing is early menopause, but that is very rare, and some forms of cancer, also very very rare. Your chances of that happenign are less than you getting hit by lighting at the same time you get hit by a bus, while you are scratching off the winning lottery ticket!
