Unhappy Heartburn and hair...

I have been having some HORRIBLE heartburn the last couple of nights. I was talking to my Mom about it last night and she said that it "could" mean that my lil miss will have a lot of hair (god I hope not) I'm blonde but my ex is latin. He doesnt' really have dark dark hair though. But he is hairy (ick) Anyway, has anyone heard of heartburn meaning that? Also, why would I be having so much heartburn? I couldn't eat anything today. I had a english muffin with eggs this morning but other then that I haven't wanted to eat nor have I felt hungry. I am 36 weeks.

Re: Heartburn and hair...

Yes I have heard that same wives tale, but no its not always true. I had wicked heartburn with all my pregnancy's and not one of them came out with hair. I even get heartburn with things you wouldnt think could cause it. But they say that your digestion slows down during pregnancy and the pressure from your growing uterus is what causes this. I hope you feel better soon, try to talk to your Dr. and see what he suggest. I took Mylanta(liquid) and that was the only thing that worked for me. Good Luck!!

Re: Heartburn and hair...

try drinking soem milk, and last night I read that papaya juice helps heartburn. I don't know if the thing is true or not. I just looked at a list of things that mean you are carryign a boy, and about three out of 20 of them are true for me!

Re: Heartburn and hair...

I have to take Zantac 150 twice a day just to be able to function cause of the heartburn and acid reflux. If I miss a dose I wake up throwing up stomach acid. My DD had a head full of hair when she was born and I had so much heartburn. I haven't had a ultrasound since week 20 so not sure if the boy will have a big head of hair, but my dad keeps teasing saying the baby is gonna be hairy as a gorilla :P

Re: Heartburn and hair...

Hi, l started to ge theartburn at week 17 and im now week 28, my heartburn springs up any timeof day ! although eating little but often does help, and try to eat bananas and milk too.

Im not sure about the evidence regarding the hair thing. My aunts did not really get much heart burn and they loved eating spicy foods there kids had reasonable amount of hair. So i guess with me im gonna have to wait and see just like the rest of you ladies. Take care

I really think that the heartburn and hair thing is just an old wives tale. My daughter had hair, and I didn't have any heartburn at all.

Re: Heartburn and hair...

Definately just an old wives tale. With my 1st child......I suffered from massive heartburn throughout my entire pregnancy. Not only was my daughter born with no hair at all, but she didn't have much hair even by the age of 2 years old. She had her first hair cut at 2-1/2 years old.
