Have any of you members have a VBAC? What was the reaction of your OBGYN, and did you do a lot of research before settling with an OBGYN who was happy to assist you. I'm so worried that I'll be told flat out that I'll have to have another C-section, without at least trying. I'll really appreciate any input.
My doctor said I could do it, went to a diff ob *they switch you around alot at my doc's* and I was told that I should just do C-section since it's safer for me. Each person is different. It depends on why you had one in the first place. It's in your right to ask about having a repeat c-section or trying labor.
Thanks for replying. I guess some docs.would prefer c-section if you've had on before. I'll have to do some research to find out which docs are prepared to go that route. I was induce on my due date as my OB told me my amniotic fluid was getting less, my gut feeling was to wait until after the w/end. With your first you just don't know, so I just went along with it, and then I ended up having a c-sect, more that 12 hours later. My OB was due for her vacation the week after my baby was born and I figured (IMO) she just wanted to get everything out of the way before she went on vac.
Ive had two c-sections and Ive been told I can not have a VBac. First of all I had my first one due to pelvic disproportion and I had been in labor about 20hrs and only dialated to a 6, but the baby was not in the birth canal at all. With my second one I also had a Dr. tell me yes I could try to have a VBac but then had to switch Dr.s. He told me NO.. Because of the pelvic disproportion and the dangers that could happen with a VBac. Now with my third Im told that Dr.s wont do VBacs because of the danger to the mother and child. But thats just what he said, I cant be sure that all Dr.s wont do it. I would like to try but since Ive had two c-sections I think the dangers would double and I want to play it safe. Good luck and see what you can find out and let us know.
I had my 1st baby vaginal, my 2nd emergency c-section, and my 3 i wanted to do vaginal, the Dr said he will see what he can do because its very easy to rip the stitches in your insides, but he knew how bad i wanted it, since c-section was to much pain for me! He researched it and told me the week before i delivered that i can go for Vbac. ( i guess its whos in the hospital trained in that to be safe) I did it! it was the best and easiest delivery, now i hope i can do vaginal again! Im gonna cross my fingers!
I agree w/ the previous poster who said that it is very dependent upon why you had the c-section to begin with and the way in which your current pregnancy is progressing. If your health of the health of your baby is in jeopardy you should opt for the c-section.
I think the only time "tearing" or ripping of your uterus is a concern is if it has been less than a year between deliveries.
I know 2 people who have delivered VBAC and been just fine. Both of their c-sections were w/ their first children and were due to labor stopping because of the epidural.
