Red face Scared..

Yesterday i had my 20 weeks scan done, they said it was fine, its a boy, but today they called and said there is a dark spot on the brain and they dunno what it is and they want to do a level 2 ultra sound within 2 weeks, they lady said most likely it is a cyst and it goes away, and its not uncommon, im scared to death now, anyone know whats going on?

Re: Scared..

Sorry to hear that. My advice is to demand an ultra sound immediately. When you are pregnant you don't need the added stress. Although it probably is nothing and will go away, I've heard of it happening quite a bit.
When my AFP test came back low and they wanted me to do a level II ultra sound they scheduled me for two weeks later and I almost died. I seriously freaked out and my husband called and told them my emotional state could not handle waiting two weeks so they moved it up to the following day! I know, I know I am a Drama Queen but at the same time this is my first baby and I was a nervous wreck which can't be good for the baby. Remember you are the patient you deserve the best so demand that you get what you want!
Good luck and keep us posted you will be in my prayers.

Re: Scared..

I totally agree that you should call and demand an earlier u/s. Making you wait 2 weeks is so unfair to you. Obviously, you are worried, and with good reason, and you need to be able to know asap what is going on. I haven't personally experienced this, or know much about it, but hopefully it is just a cyst that will go away, like they had mentioned. I can't even begin to imagine what stress this must be causing you, but try and hang in there. And again, see if you can get in sooner. You will be in my thoughts, and let us know what happens.

Re: Scared..

I just had my level II and had the same thing... my baby has a cyct on it's brain... they said since my quad screen and the rest of the ultrasound showed nothing, it is nothing to worry about... I did alot of research yesterday and found that it usually goes away about week 24 of your pregnancy... after reading about it, I am not as worried, but belive me I know how you feel... Good Luck...

Re: Scared..

I know how you feel I am currently 22 weeks and had a level two ultra sound 2 weeks ago because the regular u/s tech could not get good enough pics of the heart and the spine. When I had the level 2 done 2 weeks ago the specialist advised me that the baby's kidney's were slightly dilated and about 95% of the time it goes away but 4% of the time women have to deliver early, and the baby needs antibiotics and possiblty surgery and 1% of the time it means downs sydrome. I have been reading up on it alot and they same it is very common in boys (That is what I am having) but ofcourse I am still so nervous and have to also go back 6/7/05 for another u/s. In a way I wish I never knew but at least if we know early there is a chance they could fix it right, try not to worry to much I am trying too, we have to stay healthy for our babies, Hey and good luck, you never know-the next time they look it may be gone!!!!
