Hiccups alot

I feel them a couple of times most everyday. I know that hiccpus are normal, but I read in my pregnancy book that frequent hiccups, 2-4 times in 24 hours, and each time lasting 10 minutes or longer, could signal a cord problem. I'm 33 weeks, and they don't last longer than 2 minutes I'd say. I just am worried because of what my book says. But I really don't fall into that category, nor do they last 10 minutes. Anyone else notice their baby getting hiccups a lot like this? I know with my daughter, she seemed to have them a lot too, but I don't remember how often.

I've never heard that. My DS had the hiccups every night at 8 for a good 45 minutes and this time lil miss gets the hiccups about twice a day and especially at night for about 30 minutes or so. I try to change positions but that doesn't help. I know the cord is fine because my Dr does an U/S at every appt. What book is this from? I'd just ask my Dr if you are worried just to be assured the baby is OK. Just for mind sake.

Re: Hiccups alot

It's from the "What to Expect When You're Expecting" book. Actually, I also found a section where it says that some babies get hiccups several times a day and it isn't a cause for concern. I have weekly appts and I will ask my dr next week just for peace of mind, as you said. Thanks for your reply though, it makes me feel better. I am sure it's completely normal, I just worry too much at times

Re: Hiccups alot

OMG!!! I swear there isn't a day were he doesn't get the hiccups!! It's so funny, but my doctor said it's normal for some babies to get them where as some don't...I enjoy them to be quite honest!! He has been getting them since I was about 21weeks so it's like a routine!!
