Question Breasts

When do your nipples begin to leak? Also, is it true that when you give birth, your breasts go up at least a full breast size? If so is it immediately or a few days:?

I started leaking I believe at 25 weeks. Not a lot at all. My breasts with my DS went from a small B to a full D. They got a LOT bigger about 3 days after he was born.

Re: Breasts

Mine did not leak at all when I was pregnant. They do get huge when your milk comes in, which is about 3-4 days after giving birth.

Re: Breasts

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but my question goes right in line the original question...

If you don't leak, and the milk doesn't come in until 3-4 days after the birth...how does the baby eat in it's first few days if you're not doing formula???

Re: Breasts

In the first few days after birth, you produce a milk like substance, I think it is called colostrum (sp?). If you don't breastfeed, at least at my hospital, they bind your breasts in an ace bandage. They do get pretty big and sore.
