What is normal weight gain

What is normal weight gain from the 5th month on? I am eating healthy but i seem to be gaining more weight than i should be. The doctor told me i gained 5 pounds this past month. At this rate i wold be gaining 40-45 throughout the preganancy. The baby is just under a pound so i know she will ge gaining weight fast too but how much should i be gaining as well?

Re: What is normal weight gain

They say between 25 and 35 lbs is normal, but if you're overweight or underweight to start with, they adjust accordingly. Don't worry about your weight gain if you are eating healthy and doing the best you can. Some months you will gain more and some less. I was really concerned when I was pregnant because I had 2 months in a row with siginificant weight gain. One month (at my 28-week appointment) I had gained 10 lbs and the following month (at my 32-week appointment) I had gained another 8. It all evened out, though, and my total weight gain was only 38 lbs. I was 95 lbs to begin with, so my doctor was happy I was on the high side of normal. She did schedule an induction, though, because the weight gain was all baby and she was concerned about the size of the baby. It all worked out and I had her 5 days early at 7lbs 3 oz. Your doctor will tell you if they are concerned with your weight gain, but it is too early for that. Most likely, it will even out and your baby just went through a growth spurt this month.

Re: What is normal weight gain

I totally agree that everyone is different. I gained 10 pounds the first month with my son and the nurse made me cry when she said that I needed to watch what I was eating because I was obviously gaining too much. Turns out I only gained a total of 20 pounds with him- and he was a healthy 8.5lbs!
with my daughter I actually lost 5 the first month due to morning sickness and then still gained the same amount- 20 pounds and she was born 8lbs too. ( A week early)
