Re: What is normal weight gain
They say between 25 and 35 lbs is normal, but if you're overweight or underweight to start with, they adjust accordingly. Don't worry about your weight gain if you are eating healthy and doing the best you can. Some months you will gain more and some less. I was really concerned when I was pregnant because I had 2 months in a row with siginificant weight gain. One month (at my 28-week appointment) I had gained 10 lbs and the following month (at my 32-week appointment) I had gained another 8. It all evened out, though, and my total weight gain was only 38 lbs. I was 95 lbs to begin with, so my doctor was happy I was on the high side of normal. She did schedule an induction, though, because the weight gain was all baby and she was concerned about the size of the baby. It all worked out and I had her 5 days early at 7lbs 3 oz. Your doctor will tell you if they are concerned with your weight gain, but it is too early for that. Most likely, it will even out and your baby just went through a growth spurt this month.
