Re: This is Driving me Nuts! Any advice please????
Some women can get Zantac prescribed for bad heartburn. Also, Tums are suppose to help.
My best friend has always told me that eating a lot of cheese can make heartburn unbearable. She has always had heartburn but when she was pregnant it got a lot worse and cheese really set it off.
If you need to ask your doc about getting some Zantac.

You can get Zantac over-the-counter. My doctor told me not to take more than 30 milligrams a day, so I started out with Zantac 75. When I was up to 4 a day and they still weren't cutting it, she told me to take Prilosec OTC once a day and that worked for the duration of my pregnancy. Ask your OB before you take anything, since they are all different on what they will let you take.

I thought you weren't supposed to take Rolaids during pregancy???
Anyway, I suffer 24-7 and have for quite some time now. DR. subscribed Zantac and it works well as long as I remember to take them.
Check into it.

Magpie,
I also had thought that Zantac and Pepcid and the like were off limits until I talked to my doc. She said they are fine. I have been taking the chewble Pepcids and they work great. They basically havethe fast acting relief of a Tums with the long lasting effects of Pepcid. I only take one or two a day and as my baby seems to move down more, the heartburn is better so I don't take as many. Between 25-33 weeks though rough going.
