Ok I myself am not pregnant, however a couple of my friends are. I have asked them the sex of the baby and all expecting parents have come back to me with the same answer... they don't know. Apparently the hospitals in Nova Scotia, Canada and the ones on Prince Edward Island, Canada no longer tell expecting parents the sex of their unborn child. Even though both sets of expecting parents requested to know. Does anyone have any idea why that is?
I used to live in N.S. when I was pregnant. They wouldn't tell me either. The Nurse told me it was a Candian law, not just N.S., they were just more strict with it there. Some Drs would tell you, but most would not. My Dr said it had something to do with people getting abortions if the baby wasn't the sex that they wanted. I have no idea if that's true, she didn't really know either, just what she was told.
Some one mentioned to me the thing about abortions if the parents didn't get the gender they wanted. Also Canada has alot of insurance problems, right? I guess maybe they got a lot of lawsuits over the wrong gender. The dr getting it wrong or something.
I'm from Canada...Alberta. and have not heard anything about the dr. not telling you the sex of the baby. They usually ask if you want to know so they don't end up telling you. But..things may be different in diff. provinces or cities.
