Cutting the Cord
THere was another thread about cord blood banking where it was mentioned that cutting the cord too early could be dangerous for the baby because the baby needed that blood. Well we saw a show on Discovery Channel, and Ijust checked it out on a few websites, that the baby getting that blood back can cause him to have too much blood resulting in jaundice and other much more serious problems, like brain damage.

I'm not sure what you mean by "too early." They cut the cord just after the baby is born.

I started a thread last week on cord blood banking and received a response from a someone who said the baby needs that blood put back into his body after birth. My doctor has assured me that it is not true. There is no harm done to newborns who have this proceedure performed. It is only to their
benefit if needed someday.
