pedicure and labor?

Ok I have seen and read a few people on here that have gotten pedicures toward the end of there pregnancy and then went into labor. My question is, how far along were you when you had the pedicure? and how long after you had it done, did you go into labor? I am just thinking ahead for a few different things to try lol. thanks

Re: pedicure and labor?

I had one the Saturday before my Sch C Section the following Wednesday at (39 weeks, 1 day) and I never had contractions, or anything this was with my 1st pregnancy. I just had one this past Saturday at 8 wks and 2 days, but I have never heard of it putting you in labor. Goodluck.

Re: pedicure and labor?

I have no idea either, nor had I, but a few people have posted that they got pedicures, then went into labor. I do know that there is a spot on your foot, that if it is rubbed or massaged, it is for the uterus, that is why my massage guy would not touch my feet, nor my hands while we were ttc.

Re: pedicure and labor?

I think maybe the person was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Your body gives off a hormone when its ready to go into labor, that's why they say stimulating the nipples can induce labor. Maybe the hormone was just given off and she thinks its cause of the massage...I really don't know, sorry!

Re: pedicure and labor?

Wow I never heard of this....I am 37 weeks and just had a pedicure done today. Nothing happening so far though. Tomorrow I am having an hour and a half full pregnancy massage!! I can't wait, and hopefully this will help speed things along.

Re: pedicure and labor?

wow karen, lucky you lol, make sure they pay attention to your hands and feet lol.

Thanks Mary, I knew my massage guy was not making this up lol, I figured the fact that if you were not ready, it would not work, I was just curious on how long it took to work for the ones it did work for, I guess I will wait a few weeks to get one. Thanks for that input.

Re: pedicure and labor?

I had heard that too. I have a friend in Singapore and they do alot of natural meds there, and massages to cure problems. And she told me early on to get a massage it would make me feel better, but to be sure I didnt' let the go below my knees, cause it could make the baby come early.
