Should I ask?

Hi everyone, I am still on low activity. My B/P was 120/82 last sat when I went to the doc and he said I could go see Star Wars which was great!!! I have been on bedrest / low activity for 2 weeks now and I feel fine it's making me kinda restless.here is my question I am 38 weeks on sat and my doc app is tommarrow. I want to ask him if he will strip my membranes. Has anyone had luck with this? I feel kinda guilty asking but I am ordered off of work and I feel like i'm wasting my leave time that I could be with me new DD. I have a toddler now so I have been all about him for the past couple weeks but I am ready.

Re: Should I ask?

At 38 weeks, your ready to go! Ask him, he may suggest it! My Dr did it for me. I didn't ask, he just did it and IT HURT! It didn't do much for me, I was 1cm when he did it and went to L&D 4 days later to be induced since that didn't really work. I actually didn't have to be induced b/c i went into labor on my own. I was 2-3 cm when I went in that day. Did you have it done before? I mean it is quite uncomfortable, and you have cramping after words. But hey, maybe you will go into labor, and that is uncomfortable also, but the sooner its over the better right?

Re: Should I ask?

It's when the doc separates the waterbag from your cervix which shoud cause hormones that can help bring on labor. My friend had it done by my doc a few weeks ago and she said it was horrible. She said she started having contractions about an hour later. He was inducing her later that day and I have read that it can help inductions take better but otherwise take 2-3 days to work.
