I went to the dr today, and I was at 3cm and still 80% (iguess he didn't say so that makes me think there was no change). I will be 39 weeks on Sunday, and with my health problems, he said they usually offer induction in that situation. Well, because of Dh's work schedule doing it on Wed gives him three extra days to be home, so that is what we are doing! So, we will go in Wed morning at 7am! I hope we have a baby by 8am, but I don't think that will happen, lol. I am a little worried about it, seems like we might be playing God or something, instead of just letting it happen naturally. And also I don't think my belly button is going to pop out!
He will be 39 weeks and 3 days at that time.
Anyway, what will they do? Will they just break my water and see if that does anything, or will they give me the meds first?
And also, random question here, how long after an exam might you bleed for?
I'm so excited for you! I've never had a baby before so I can't really answer any of your questions but I just wanted to wish you all the best and to say "Good Luck"!!
Come to think of it, when they go to induce don't they usually start off with a little pill on your cervix? I can't remember what it's called. I'm sure someone else will know.
I think that you will probably get your water broken and some pitocin because your cevix is really effaced .I think the cervidil is is given to ripen your cevix but all docs are different. After my last exam my doc said I may have some light bleeding but never said how long what to expect says up to 48 hours.Good luck I am really exited for you!
Good luck. Each doctor takes a different approach to induction. Some put a gel in your cervix overnight while others just start you on the pitocin. Either way, with induction, your baby might not even be here until the following Thursday. I went into the hospital at 6 centimeters (wasn't induced) but after 10 hours they started me on pitocin and I still didn't have my son until 24 hours later.
They'll probably break your water bag first then start you on a pitocin drip. They probably won't use cervidil or anything like that since you are already thinning out so well! Good Luck!
Cattioes-Good luck with your induction. Can you believe it's actually happening? I was induced with pitocin, but after my water had broken naturally so I'm not sure what they do. My dr. also will talk about induction Wed. for me if I don't go by then. You will be in our thoughts....make sure you let us know when your little one arrives!
Congrats.....I was induced with 2 out of my 4 children..I know it depends on how low your baby has dropped before they will break your bag of waters, due to the risk of the cord coming out first...So if the baby is pretty low chances are they will break your water pretty soon after getting to the hospital...Best of luck to you
Thanks guys! I am sort of excited and sort of scared! I keep thinking this is the last time I will do this (hopefully) without a baby.
Anyway, they aren't going ot use that stuff in my cervix, because they said it was "favorable", I think that means cause it is dialating on it's on and already at least 80% effaced.
Congratulations! I can't wait to hear your birth story. I think they will do what a few of the other posters said, start you on Pitocin and possibly break your waters depending on the baby's positioning. Good luck Hun, Take care.
CONGRATS!!! The moment you have been waiting for is about to arrive!! As for your question with the bleeding, I think that its on and off for about 6 weeks.
